THE HIGH COST OF SIN

Gen 4:6 So the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen?

God brings three specific questions to Cain about his attitude and the nature of man. "Why are you angry," "Where is your brother," "What have you done?" Our Creator wants us to recognize sin before we embrace it. Anger is a symptom of something brewing within, blaming others is a symptom of internal conflict, and ignoring the pressure of selfishness is the beginning of shipwreck. Cain blamed his brother, God and circumstances for his failures, what are you pointing at for your failures today?
We can ask ourselves these three simple questions and avoid the spiral into the high cost of sin. Why am I angry, where did this start, and what have I done, these questions will make us focus on us not others. God wants to forgive us but we must make a point of examining ourselves.

Heavenly Father, help us to see Your Word has every answer to our problems, help us to look by faith at the truth that will make us free, help us to avoid the high cost of sin! Amen
