Luke 13:8 (NKJV) ... Sir, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and fertilize it.
Life comes with many difficult themes, banker, nurse, pilot, electrician, and so on, the many titles we hold in this world all come with their share of trouble. Is there a way through life that does not come with trials and struggle, I am so glad you asked?
Jesus tells a large group of people this simple story, a man is looking for fruit on his tree, finding none he wants the tree removed, the keeper of that tree intercedes and requests, let me till the ground around the tree and let me fertilize it, then if the tree will not produce cut it down.
The tree could be a picture of men, the keeper as Jesus and the owner of that tree, God. The keeper must allow the struggle of turning dry and unproductive ground in our lives, so that it then may have the word (spiritual fertilizer) applied to the root of our lives. God is looking at the lives of men for fruit, finding none the tree is removed from its place.
Are you producing fruit consistent with what God is looking for, it must be useful and consumable, in other words our fruit must please God. The fruit of our lives will not do unless, it is taken from the life of Christ, He must live in us for the fruit to be real and satisfying. Does He live in you, He will if you ask Him to forgive you of your sins and come into your life?
Heavenly Father we look to You for all our needs, Jesus the author of life, the Holy Spirit to guide us and Your sweet Word to give nourishment, that we might produce the fruit You desire. Let all our trials turn us to You, that we might please You. Amen
